Leorema, June 20, 2205

His Excellency the Secretary of State for Cooperatives (SEKoop), Eng. Arsénio Pereira da Silva, M.Agr., together with the Secretary of State for Veterans, Cesar dos Santos da Silva “Merak”, and the President of the Municipal Authority of Liquiçá, Paulino Ribeiro, officially launched the Leorema Bazartete Liquiçá Coffee (LEOBALI) in Leorema Village, Bazartete Administrative Post, Liquiçá Municipality, on Friday afternoon.

Following the launch, His Excellency delivered a speech stating that SEKoop is committed to continuing its support and facilitating training for managers to further enhance their capacity and skills, particularly in the hospitality sector.

“I congratulate the managers who took the initiative to promote this community tourism space. Going forward, the Secretary of State for Cooperatives will continue to provide support and facilitate trainings to ensure its sustainability. Cooperative groups or movements previously supported through public capital transfer budgets will become permanent partners,” SEKoop said.

The Secretary of State urged the managers of LEOBALI cafeteria to further develop the area so it can attract both domestic and international visitors.

The manager of the LEOBALI cafeteria, Imanuel Lobato, reported that the activities to be developed will include community tourism integrated with agricultural, horticultural, livestock, and other production activities. Currently, they have started with a coffee processing site, a coffee shop, and the cafeteria itself.

“We are grateful to the Secretary of State for Cooperatives under His Excellency’s leadership, for the budget support of US$9,000 that enabled us to establish the coffee processing facility, shop, and cafeteria. We hope for continued support to ensure the future sustainability of our activities,” said the cafeteria manager.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from the PNTL commanders of Liquiçá and Ermera, Gleno Prison Guards, and SEKoop staff deployed in the Liquiçá Municipality.
